MadRats Reunited
by Bickmo on Monday, July 10th, 2006

After four long years of nuptual famine, all six Brownstone 21 roommates from BYU, along with The Petersen of Deseret Towers and Riviera fame, were united once again, this time in Los Angeles to celebrate Notch’s turn to tie the proverbial knot(ch). We thank Notch most heartily for the invitation because, as everyone knows, the freeways of L.A. are smog-choked death traps.

The ceremony at the Los Angeles Temple was magnificent; the subsequent festivities proved highly tasty and, a little later on, absent of electrical power. Despite the darkness, no small children drowned in the swimming pool, so the evening was deemed a success. We rolled with it. No wait, Notch did that.
The following day, while Notch was taking in the Maui golf scene, the rest of us went to the Getty Art Museum and the port of Avalon on Catalina Island, a fun tourist trap with great restaurants and a noticeable lack of smog. Bickmo provided the day’s entertainment by renting an overpriced golf cart for a tour of the streets of Avalon and the surrounding hillsides, with Chicken Wing, The Knippers, and The Petersen riding along. (Italian Romance Machine had remained at the Getty Museum back across the channel, while Microsoft Canadian had flown home that morning.)
So the MadRats reunion was resounding success, despite a perpetual dance with death on the California motorways. Notch joined the ranks the married Rats. Only one question remains: who’s next?
